Studying...D:

That's right, that's most of what I did today...study. And let me tell you, that grammar book, got old REALLY fast...it reviewed EVERYTHING!!! And I do mean EVERYTHING!!! From nouns and verbs...so far I've only gotten as far as pronouns before I completed the required reading. I'm not going any farther until I have to.

And now I'm about to read from my creative writing book and my literature book. Hopefully they'll prove more interesting.

Cabbage...

So I don't think I'm going to get a part... :( But thanks to a few good friends (one of which is another student here) I'm not feeling as bad...I still miss ACT I's more objective approach to casting, though...

I had cabbage with dinner tonight...which was awesome...

And then there was a game of Capture the Flag in the soccer bowl, which does act like a bowl after the last two days of rain...I slipped and fell twice in the mud. Needless to say, my pants are soaked and muddy and covered in grass. But hey, what can you do? Tomorrow is probably going to consist of primarily studying. Alot of reading, but it should be mostly painless, if I can get myself to do it. I'm still not getting much better at pool, unfortunately.

Lit and History

Today was a fairly light day as far as classes are concerned, but I'm still trying to figure out which books go with which classes, so I grabbed every text book I had that said Literature or History or Civilization...and of course these were my largest and heaviest books...story of my life, eh?

My Lit professor is rather...spastic and ADD, which makes it interesting. We were going around the room saying our names, where we were from, and what our favorite movie was, and she commented on each one, sometimes taking off on a random tangent. Like when we analyzed Dark Knight and compared Batman's situation in that movie to Jesus. If you're curious as to how we did that, just ask, I'll tell you, but I don't feel like doing that here and now.

My History professor was the most organized professor so far, but it wasn't too bad. I think I'll still be able to enjoy the class, especially since this semester is only covering from ancient civilization to early medieval period. Anything after that not pertaining to the American Revolution, the War of 1812, the Civil War, WWII is not interesting to me. And yes, I realize that those are all wars. What can I say? I find battle interesting, and other than that, history after the middle ages is all politics, and I hate politics with a passion.

Callbacks for "A Doll's House" are tonight, and I think there's going to be a pick-up game of either Ultimate Frisbee or Soccer tonight in the bowl...oh, and I am learning Geometry this year via the pool hall in the Student Center. ;) Hopefully I'll get better.

Auditions

So I auditioned for a show with the college today, and I think that I did pretty well. For those of you who saw/were in Narnia, I used the monologue from the "party" scene right before Peter's lucky victory. The show is called "A Doll's House", and there are only three male parts, and five guys auditioned, and I heard those casting say that some of the guys had scheduling conflicts. I have a callback tomorrow, but I'll have to miss a minor league baseball game, so it's my first sacrifice for the theater while in college. But it's worth it. Anyway, other than that, not much to report. I'm wishing I'd brought Rock Band with me, and my tab book, because I'm trying to write a song...

First day of classes begins

So today was the start of classes, and honestly it was not what I expected at all. Both classes that I had today, Advanced Freshmen English and Intro to Creative Writing, were very laid back, and the professors weren't stuffy, straight-laced guys in suits standing in front of fifty students talking for hours. The feel was very light, and I can't wait until Tuesday when I have those classes again. Basically, both classes were just getting to know the professors and getting an overview of the semester.

I also went to the first meeting of the local Theater Honors Society, Alpha Psi Omega, which is a nationally recognized Theater Honors Society that was created at Belhaven in the thirties. Membership is based on involvement in the theater program at Belhaven.

Later today I'll be auditioning for the school's production of "A Doll's House", but I'm not sure how that's going to go, as there are three male parts available, and I have no idea how many people are going to come out and audition.

Anyhow, that's my day thus far, and apart from the audition, the only thing else that I've got is a mandatory residence hall meeting at nine. More forthcoming either later tonight or tomorrow.

First entry

So I just thought that I'd start writing my experiences in college so my friends back home can keep track of how I'm doing, etc. First real post should be forthcoming this Thursday after classes start.
